GAME Files For Administration

They've been in danger of administration for some time now, and finally, it seems that the time has come. UK retail chain GAME have now filed for administration, which will see GAME and GameStation stores close around the country.

This announcement means that many town centres will be missing specialist game stores, thus resorting to HMV or supermarkets such as Asda, which tend to ramp up the prices much more than even the often high-priced GAME did.

GAME posted a statement to confirm this news, some of which you can see below:

“Further to this morning’s announcement of the suspension of trading in shares of GAME Group plc, the board has concluded that its discussions with all stakeholders and other parties have not made sufficient progress in the time available to offer a realistic prospect for a solvent solution for the business.”
Both GAME and GameStation will be launching sales to clear their stock lines, and no doubt more information about the future of these chains will be released very shortly. Sadly though it looks like there will be a lot of unemployment as these stores shut down. Best of luck GAME and GameStation workers!

  1. I feel for the staff, the guys in our Brentwood store are real gamers, really knowledgeable and passionate about what they do. They will be missed.
